FORERUNNER Training Camp (Grades 11th-12th)

A continuation of SFR’s mission to ‘train up a child’ (Proverbs 22:6). This camp is much different than Teen Camp; exclusively for 11th and 12th grade students, this camp is designed for the camper that desires to transition into being a leader. Ideally this is a two year preparation as they make the transition from camper to staff member. This is a significant mental transition for all those interested in servant leadership at SFR.

Forerunner 1 (for Jr. and Sr. in High School) includes one week of training followed by at least one week of volunteering as a counselor for day campers. The training week will involve team building challenges, time in the classroom, completion of a work project, as well as fun and bonding time with peers.

Forerunner 2 (Sr. in High School) involves one week of training followed by up to five weeks of volunteering as a day camp counselor or other camp supporting roles. The training week is filled with adventure activities, classes on servant leadership and camp curriculum, and training in SFR camp policies and procedures. These classes are followed by the practical experiences of supervising young children at day camp while being mentored by college age leaders.

Forerunner Leadership Training Program 2012

SFR Camps are staffed by responsible college-age counselors who have been chosen for their excitement about the reality of Jesus Christ in their lives, and are ready to help each camper discover that same excitement as well as help them grow in their personal relationship with the Lord.
