SFR Morning Encounter – Journaling

Journaling:

  • WHAT is it? A tool to record your expressions and interpretations of life. It’s also a way to chronicle your life. Everyone has a story! This is yours.
  • WHY Journal?  It is a way to examine your path. “This is how I’m interpreting my life right now.” An unexamined life is not worth living. Use your journal to ask questions and seek answers – it makes the book a powerful tool over time.  Your journal will become a treasure map to the riches in your life.IMG_2886
  • HOW do I journal: There are many ways of personal expression in journaling. There is no set model. It needs to be personal and it needs to be practical. Your journal can be about events or about thoughts and questions, or both.  You can write as if it’s a letter or a story or a textbook or just a physical document of what’s going on inside your mind and heart. You can use words or draw pictures or make collages or all of this, plus more. The great thing is that it’s yours! You can change and adapt whenever you want.
  • WHEN do I journal? This is not a play by play. Sometimes you may write every day because you’re learning so much.  Other times, because of business, there may be weeks between entries.  Many people stop journaling because they feel like they can’t keep up with it. This is a trap. Don’t fall for it.  One common mistake after waiting a long time between entries is to try to “catch up” on your life and spend time writing about what has gone on since your last entry.  This may be needed to a point, but it can also be overwhelming because you feel like you have to write so much to just catch up, and this doesn’t include the writing you need to do to simply express where you are today.

[…] At Shepherd’s Fold, we LOVE journaling. It is a great way to keep track of your journey with the Lord. It provides a way to look back and see all that the Lord has done in your life, all that He has said to you personally, remind you of the people He has brought to you, and the things He has brought you through. A few weeks ago, I posted several blogs going into detail on how we teach journaling at SFR. […]
