Here we go, summer 2013 is rapidly approaching. We are busy preparing to make this the most incredible summer in the history of SFR, and you can help!

Last year we initiated the Don Staires Scholarship Fund and challenged you to give above your normal amount by adding matching funds to each of your gifts.

We have been blessed through your obedience to the Lord and are able to offer numerous extra scholarships this summer!

Do you know of a child that needs to go to camp this summer, but may not have the funds?

YOU CAN HELP MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR THEM.

It’s so simple – If you know a camper/ family who would love to attend camp, but haven’t ever come because they simply cannot come up with the money, please have them fill out the Campership Application and return it to SFR by May 1.

Like Don, we do not want finances to keep a child from having the full camp experience and encountering God in the midst of His creation.

The Mission
All proceeds from the tournament go to Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, a place in the country where you can do business with God. The Ranch is well known for its beautiful landscape and one of the finest Christian Summer Camps around Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The Play
A shot gun start is scheduled for the tournament. The format will be a four person team scramble. Golfers may enter as an individual and be grouped into a foursome.

The Reward
Beyond just supporting a fine non-profit organization and golf tournament, there is also a reward for YOU. Prizes, a fun round of golf, and a chance to mix with other golfers, including business and community leaders from the Tulsa area are among many of the benefits you will be rewarded as a participant in this golf tournament. Also, there is a $10,000 Hole-In-One Cash Prize!

The Place
The golf tournament will be held at Bailey Golf Ranch in nearby Owasso (10105 Larkin Bailey Blvd). Bailey Golf Ranch is one of Oklahoma’s newest and finest public golf facilities.

The Schedule
The tournament will take place on May 10, 2013.
Registration begins at 8:00am and the Shotgun start is at 9:00am.
Lunch, prizes, and trophy awards will begin following the play.

Participation & Scholarship Levels*

• Individual - One Golfer: $125         ($80 tax deductible)
• Hole Sponsor: $250         ($250 tax deductible)
  • Your business name will be advertised on a course hole.
• Silver Team Sponsor – Four Golfers: $1,000      ($820 tax deductible)
  • Includes golf cart, green fee, lunch and refreshments, team photo, and a chance for awards and prizes and a course hole sponsorship.
• Gold Team Sponsor – Eight Golfers: $2,500      ($2,140 tax deductible)
  • Includes Silver Team benefits and your business will be promoted through logos, social media and signage.
• Title Sponsor – Twelve Golfers: $5,000      ($4,460 tax deductible)

Our theme this summer is GET POWERED UP. Our main verse is Acts 1:8, which says, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” During your child’s week of camp, we will focus on the power we’ve been given through words, scripture, love, grace, the Holy Spirit, actions, thoughts, prayer, surrender, and forgiveness. And of course we will have fun with new games, a developed program, and our infamous night games. Register for camp today. It will change your child’s life.

If this is your first time registering – It takes about fifteen minutes to register. You’ll create a username and password to login. The system will walk you through the registration process. AND when your child is at camp, you’ll be able to send emails!

Want a taste of camp before June? Come to our Winter Retreat February 15-17. Send your kiddos to a fun weekend at Shepherd’s Fold learning about the Lord, and you can enjoy a Valentine’s weekend with your spouse! It’s only $100 per camper! This includes 2 nights, a snack Friday night, 5 meals, tons of fun games, awesome staff, and a really cool HOODIE! SIGN UP TODAY! Space is limited.

AWESOME NEWS!!— After reviewing the parent feedback we received from our end of summer survey we have shifted a few things to fit your summer schedule better, while still providing the same number of camps!

You might also notice…SFR is now offering a full week of Treehouse Village in June! AND The Summit (formerly known as Teen Camp) is being held over the 4^th of July week (complete with epic July 4^th celebration) !!

You’ll be happy to know that we’re offering TWO THV mini weeks again, and CAMP PRICES ARE REMAINING THE SAME!

Another wonderful renovation nearing completion is Treehouse Village’s Clubhouse meeting room. Remember when we posted the work in progress pictures? Well things have come quite a long way. We have now finished the interior of the Clubhouse with new carpet, the wood trim and panel board has all been painted as well as the walls and ceiling and we have replaced the fluorescent lighting with beautiful can lights.

The Clubhouse is a wonderful functional meeting space for groups anywhere from 20-110 in size. With the added warmness of the updates it is the perfect place for a worship service, team meeting, game night or brainstorming session.

Be on the lookout for future updates on volunteer opportunities. We have some exciting news for this April about a total Ranch renovation!!!!!

As we prepare for the celebration of the birth of Jesus, we here at the Ranch want to say thank you for the your support and “gifts” over the past 40 years. Everything we do is because of Jesus and we want to honor your service to The Fold because of your love for Him. So thank you and thank Jesus for you.

In honor of this new scholarship fund we have partnered with some fantastic folks are offering MATCHING FUNDS till the end of 2012. This means that until the end of the month every donation whether it is $25 or $460 will be doubled to send kids in need to camp.  Amen! Thank you Don and Shirley Staires for walking in obedience and establishing this “place called home.” And, thank you for supporting Shepherd’s Fold Ranch.

Dear Shepherd’s Fold Friends and Family, Greetings from the Ranch. What an amazing year we have had! We saw increases in campers, retreats, staff, and impact. The Lord is continuing to bless this ministry and we are more determined than ever to increase our ministry to change more hearts to the Lord. I attended SFR as a child and was impacted by the awesome experience I had summer after summer. Every day I am amazed and blessed that I have the privilege of being the Executive Director of such a great ministry. Over the past two summers, I have had the opportunity to see many children and young adults positively impacted by the ministry work done out here. Studies show that kids today spend about 7.5 hours every day using electronic media – that includes cell phones, ipods, video games, and computers. Astonishingly that adds up to 113 days per year!

While media can be a benefit to society, I am finding out that it is now more important than ever that SFR continue to be a haven for children to unplug and truly be a place in the country where kids can do business with God. These past two summers I have seen spiritual and emotional growth occur in our campers while outside and in the presence of God. It has been amazing.

This year, instead of our normal end of the year fundraising campaign for the Ranch, the Board and I have decided we will primarily raise funds to support our new scholarship initiative. The “Don Staires Scholarship Fund” will supply families in need the ability to send their kids to a week at Shepherd’s Fold and experience that same power of camp that has been changing and impacting lives for 40 years. I know this because Don Staires gave me a scholarship to attend SFR when I was a kid and it changed the direction of my life forever. I now feel the Lord pulling me to ensure that money will not be a barrier for kids to come to camp this summer.

The most exciting part is that until the end of the year we have a MATCHING DONOR. This means that for every dollar you are able to donate to Shepherd’s Fold Ranch, the Scholarship Fund will receive two dollars. This is H-U-G-E! We have the opportunity to broadcast the influence of Christ into places we have never gone before. Let’s do it folks…let’s change some lives. Will you join me in ensuring that more children will be available to attend camp and learn about the Lord this summer?
